Morgantown: November '18 Meetup

Join us for our bi-monthly Meetup for Boss Babes WV: Morgantown.

Boss Babes WV is all about: LOW KEY mingling, intersectional feminism, snacks, speakers, activities, vendors. The event is free and all-inclusive.

Come and meet your BBWV Morgantown Hosts: Jodi & Alex!

November’s theme is EXPECTATIONS; We will hear from local women what renewal means to them. We will meet some new people, laugh, have fun. Good things happen in large groups of women. INVITE YOUR FRIENDS.

What should you expect? Two speakers for 10 minutes each on a topic, community announcements (you are welcome to share), ice breakers, general fellowship, and learning about badass women in your community.

Worried about coming alone? Social Anxiety? That's okay! At our past events, a lot of women come alone and always end up making friends & exchanging IG handles to make plans for the future. We will not make you do things you don't want to do and the atmosphere is super low pressure, though we do encourage you to get a little uncomfortable through icebreakers.

Charleston: Breaking Our Silence: Reading Womens Real Abortion Stories

This legislative session is shaping up to be the worst for women's health in decades. Legislators are playing politics with women's health and are trying to take away abortion care from low-income women in our community. Sharing our stories is one of the most powerful tools we have.

Join us for an evening of real women’s abortion stories—their reasons, experiences, values, faith, struggles, triumphs, beliefs, and emotions. Sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreaking, but always thought provoking. And always real. Breaking the mold of what a “normal” abortion must look like.

We will read stories submitted through the My Abortion, My Life website. Do you have a personal story about abortion? Submit a story at www.MyAbortionMyLife.org.

Recommended $10 donation. Refreshments provided. All proceeds go to benefit the Women's Health Center of West Virginia, the state's only nonprofit, full-service reproductive health center and last remaining abortion provider. For more info, visit whcwva.com.

Taylor Books is located at 226 Capitol Street in Charleston. Metered street and garage parking are available nearby.
